The Cigarette Butt on the Street

 Dr Sudhansu Dash

I am lying on the street
Waiting for some uncertain moment
To lose my identity
Under the feet of an indefinite somebody
This is what I am fated to
But think just a moment before
I was clinging to your lips
Sincerely digesting all you’re sufferings
Burring myself moment after moment
I am drop of water in desert sand
My life is coiling into a smoke
Have you ever thought once
To how many pieces I have broken in my inside?
The question hunts me constantly
As I am destined to be a suspended and deserted
To be ravished under a merciless feet.
Tears ends up in the eyes
The remains are a memory
That also leaves me alone
Leaving behind only a heap of ashes
Of my flesh and blood.
